A police officer in Texas currently faces a criminal charge related to driving while under the influence. His drunk driving charge came after police said he collided with another vehicle head-on. The accident that led to the police officer’s arrest took place at around 5:40 a.m. on a Tuesday. It happened along State Highway 146 South. Police said he ran into a pickup truck that had stopped in traffic as he was heading north.

When police arrived at the accident scene, the officer was in his automobile’s driver’s seat, and he appeared to be drunk. The person driving the pickup truck that was struck suffered no injuries. The officer was then arrested and jailed, with a $1,000 bond being set for him.

A drunk driving charge can have negative long-term consequences for a convicted individual, such as losing one’s driver’s license, having to pay a significant fine and even serving time in jail.
