Divorce changes lives for Texas families, but it does not necessarily have to ruin them. Once a Texas court issues a child support order, both parents must fully adhere to the terms. If, for some reason, a parent believes more money is needed or that he or she can no longer meet payments as specified, a petition must be filed in court to request a modification of an existing child support order.
