In fact, police did suspect impairment of a driver recently involved in a crash with an ambulance. The ambulance was transporting a pregnant woman when it began a left turn against a red light. The driver, who was coming from the opposite direction, failed to obey the red traffic signal, failed to stop and crashed into the ambulance.

Police believe the car was also moving at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. The paramedics were not seriously injured. The pregnant woman was taken to the hospital by another ambulance, and the car driver required medical attention as well. At last report, both remained in the hospital in stable condition.

Reports indicate the car driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He now faces DWI charges in connection with the incident.
